Turkey in the international political limbo

Since abolition of Ottoman empire Turkey has been seeking its role within the European and Middle Eastern political games. When Soviet Union was at its height Turkey took strong anti-soviet stance. After the second world war socialist, pro-Soviet political groups became one of the main targets within Turkey. Almost all political parties agreed that radical leftists were the existential enemy of the country. During this process of security threat evaluation, which was based on fears of Soviet intervention or communist rebellion within, Turkey saw the United States as an natural ally. Turkey found itself as an bulwark of resistance, but this was not last for long.

Russia as a revisionist power

After the Cold War the United States became one and only hegemon in the global stage. Oppose to this, collapse of the USSR crippled not just a Russia’s economy but power and pride. Since the fall of the Byzantine empire, Russia is considering herself as successor of the Roman empire and call herself the “Third Rome”. Rulers of Russia often describe themselves as a hands of the messiah, who could save the world from the global evil. This ideas still have an influence over the ruling elite of Russia. 

Declining Neorealism in the West

Neorealism theory in international relations have several dimensions but the main line is that every state has a duty to survive in the chaotic world, when there are no superior, non-state actor who can settle disputes and regulates state behaviors. The UN, OSCE, the Arab League and other international organisations, who declared there goals as a developers and peace makers, only exists because of good will of states, get funded from states and often ruled by very small amount group of states – generally regional or global powers. UN Security council is a perfect example for the realists, who are assuming that five permanent members of the council decide the fate of others. All of that means that international anarchy – system without real, superior governance – is prevail, which is opening door for almost any international state actor to achieve its main goal – survive. State which is stronger has a much tangible chance to survive and lead, than a country which rely on the good will of others. 

Why Georgia is a part of Europe

Speculations about Georgian political, cultural, geographical and economical place in the world is disputable and ongoing. After the creation of the Soviet Union latter become the Eastern power, which generally meant non-European, non-democratic, non-capitalist unity and after the dissolution of USSR, some countries, even Georgia, this perception stuck on to it. This is a important issue, not just for the Georgians but to the Europe itself.

We can all see how nationalistic movements are rising around the Europe. Their demands are almost identical and same around the subcontinent: stronger national identity, free from supranational institutions, such as EU and less immigration. On the matter of Europeanism

What does “European” means? It is not just a geographical dimension, but also matter of values. During the history, most of the times, person served for his or her superior, which could be a knight, lord, duke, king, bishop or someone else. They personified state itself. On the other cases person served for his or her country unilaterally and one-sided. All of that created conditions where person could be a number, one from many. Value of person, as a human being was low. Europe went vicissitudes and swift changes, inquisition, enlightenment, nationalism, two world wars, red iron curtain and eventual unity. All of that trace their track on European history and mind.

The Problems of new wave feminism

Stereotypes do exists in every society. Women were objects of labeling almost all over the history. Their jobs and everyday duties were scheduled and proclaimed by social institutions like church, government and communities. Women’s main duties and activities were within the household, which meant that average women could never left her hometown or village during her lifespan. But after the enlightenment everything were changed for better.

Prejudice of bad politics

There are still a major distrust on the elections and the other ways of influence over politics. People often think that their voice do not counts or can’t change the reality, but it is a great flaw of political culture. People always have a power to change or create satisfactory politics in their own countries. But what is the problem? Why people do not want to participate into the elections or other processes of politics?

History – Challenge of the International Law

In December 2017, US President Donald Trump officially recognized Jerusalem as the state capital of Israel. This decision was problematic not only because Israel and Palestine have a territorial dispute over Jerusalem, but because Israel is considering possession of Jerusalem as a historical justice.

International law does not recognize history as a source of legal dispute settlement. When Serbia had an argument over status of Kosovo and reiterated that Kosovo was a historically indispensable part of Serbia, but oppose to this, statements were made from officials, that the history could not be considered as an part for international disputes. but why?
